About Your Next Role
Our client who is a respected and iconic market leader, specialising in high-quality recycling, paper & packaging solutions is now on the hunt for a pragmatic and highly motivated Instrument Engineer to play a pivotal leadership role within the EIC Maintenance Team. This position requires you to be a dynamic individual who has the technical knowledge and experience to lead and support a small team of Instrument Technicians, whilst ensuring the effective maintenance of instrument and control equipment with particular focus on the Pulp Mill, especially the key functional areas of Recovery Boilers, Power Boilers, Steam Turbines, Evaporation Plant (MEE/VCE) and Fibre Line. You will also fulfil a functional leadership role within the EIC Maintenance Team with respect to the engineering, design, commissioning and maintenance of instrument and control equipment. Listed below are a few other responsibilities you will undertake in this role (not limited to):
  • Optimize instrument maintenance practice to improve reliability & reduce maintenance costs
  • Prepare, schedule & manage shutdown work plans & work packs with strict adherence to on-time start-up
  • Conduct RCA for all major failures, rework & repeat failures
  • Generate & support capital spend requests for plant improvements involving instrumentation
  • Create & review procedures, standards & work instructions for instrument & control equipment installation & maintenance
  • Manage skill development & training for I&E trades. Continuously driving skill improvement in instrumentation maintenance & fault-finding
  • Review safe access to instrumentation & generate safety improvement proposals
  • Prepare & manage area maintenance budget for instrumentation
What We Need from You
To be successful in this role, you will have sound knowledge and experience in the maintenance of instrumentation and control valves used in steam, pulp and black liquor control applications. Other factors making you successful in this role:
  • Electrical Engineering Degree: Instrumentation and Control
  • High knowledge of process instrumentation, plus control valves, including control valve sizing
  • Experience with continuous emissions monitoring equipment
  • Experience in preparation & management of maintenance budgets with the ability to implement cost-effective, long-term maintenance regimes
  • Experience in Project Management & planning software
  • Experience in mentoring, motivating and coaching technical trade teams to achieve key objects
  • Knowledge of interfaces to & peripherals of control systems, including design experience
  • Outstanding communication skills in both written & verbal formats
  • Pulp & Paper Mill experience – Highly desirable
  • Solid understanding & knowledge of good HS&E practices
